Breaking News: Brannan extended invite to Tulliallan

Following the completion of the first event, and Major, of 2023 the EuroDov Tour released the following announcement.

“The EuroDov Tour would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Kevin Brannan on winning his first Major.

Kevin is a founding member of the EuroDov Tour and his unwavering commitment to the competition, its integrity and its values have same him become a key player on Tour.

It was fantastic to see Kevin win the 2022 Tour Championships, and to follow-up his first win with a second so quickly is a testament to his golf.

However, upon winning the EuroDov Cup, Kevin enters an even more exclusive club as a Major winner.

During the EuroDov Cup the Tour was notified that 2022 Montgomery Cup winner, Allan Kinnear, would not be playing in the 2023 Invitational Tournament, playing rights he earned by winning the tournament.

The field at the Invitational Tournament is made up of the top 8 players from the preceding years Montgomery Cup plus any previous Invitational Tournament champions from the last two years who haven’t qualified through the Montgomery Cup.

Following the withdrawal of Kinnear the Tour has decided to extend an invitation to Kevin Brannan by virtue of his Major win in Cascais, Portugal.

Brannan will join Cunningham, Love and McColgan as Major winners in the field and Stuart Allan and Graeme Connor as event winners on Tour.”

We go straight to EuroDov Reporter for his analysis.

This is somewhat of an unprecedented moment on Tour, but one that makes sense. Brannan, of course, did not secure his playing rights through the Montgomery Cup route, and neither did Andy Love.

But, upon winning a second Tour event, and a Major, he becomes only the 5th and 7th player respectively to achieve such feats.

His addition in the field certainly elevates the calibre of the competition and the spectacle come May.

The field for the 2023 Invitational Tournament will be as follows, Stuart Allan, Kevin Brannan, Graeme Connor, Barry Cunningham, Andy Love, Kieran Lynch, Richard Mair, David McColgan and Callum McNeill.

The Invitational Tournament will take place on Sunday May 7th at Tulliallan Golf Course.
