RyDov Cup 2016 - Chaos in Kinross
EuroDov Tour

Friday, 30 September 2016
It would be three years before the RyDov Cup was competed for after the Collapse at Kinross in 2013. But in 2016 the Second playing of the RyDov Cup was held once again at the Kinross Golf Courses.
2016 saw 5 debutants take to the hallowed turf at Kinross and enter the fire of competition. The 2016 edition was competed for between Captains David McColgan (Team Dov) and John Hedges (Team Hedges) and for the first time in RyDov history the teams were Captained and Vice Captained by father-son combos.
The morning singles were a juicy affair with no matches halved. Team Hedges shot out the traps winning the first four matches including a resounding victory for debutant Stephen Hedges and an astonishing come from behind victory that saw Captain John Hedges 4 down thru 9 to win 7 straight holes beat opposing Captain David McColgan 3&2.
McColgan's saviour was the bottom of the order in Sutherland and McCran who both secured points to leave the afternoon poised at 4 v 2 for Team Hedges.
It was another morning to forget for Team Dov. The team was only half a point better than 2013 and were staring at an afternoon format that required them to win all 3 matches to win the cup or 2 to retain. Following the onslaught from Team Hedges in the morning the odds were not stacked in their favour.
In a reversal of the 2013 order, McColgan opted to put himself out first and broke up the successful partnership with McCran from 2013. The gamble paid off however as McColgan & Sutherland would go on to be the top Greensome pairing of the afternoon on their way to recording a 4&3 victory. With the tone set up front McCran and Duncan forged a formidable partnership and took down Allan& Love 2&1 ensuring that the RyDov Cup was back in Team Dov hands no matter the result in the last match.
Fighting the turning tide from the back of the order Captain and Vice Captain duo John and Stephen Hedges could only salvage a win to retain some honour if not the cup.
The 2016 RyDov Cup, may have been three years in the making but, provided all the excitement of the inaugural tournament and more.
Team Dov would walk away with the cup but the real winner was the competition and the Chaos in Kinross.
