2025 Order of Merit - Player predictions - Stuart Allan

Friday, 28 March 2025

Now we are into 2025, thoughts begin to turn to the start of the new season in April and whilst the EuroDov Cup, the season opening event and Major, is the first event of the calendar year, for many the St Andrews Open and the start of the Order of Merit is the signal the season is here.

The Order of Merit enters its 5th year in 2025 and has matured and settled into the premier event of the EuroDov Tour calendar. In 2025 16 players will compete to win the James Braid Quaich, the field boasts five Major winners and nine players who have at least one Order of Merit event win to their name and with four prize money spots and two relegation places at play every player needs to be on form to contend.

EuroDov Reporter has taken time to sit down and look at each individual player and assess their prospects ahead of 2025. So, sit back, and enjoy their reviews.

Next up is Stuart Allan.

Allan has been on the Order of Merit circuit since 2021, he’s won 3 events in 27 appearances with 16 top 5 finishes.

In 27 tournaments he’s only ever finished outside the points 4 times a ratio many players would love to buy.
His overall performances have been impressive with a 4th, 2nd and 4th place finish in his first 3 years, slipping to 11th in 2024.

Statistically Allan’s best event is the Lochgelly-Forrester Open with an average of 4th place and this is matched by the Kinghorn Classic.

The St Andrews Open, Dodhead Invitational and the King’s Cup all average 5th place.

However, there is no disputing his favourite event, the Dodhead Invitational where he has won twice and posted a runner-up spot as well.

The main event Allan needs to up his game at is the MCM, he’s posted a 6th and 5th place finish but also two 15th place finishes, if he can turn those performances back into top-5 territory he’ll find himself sailing up the leaderboard.

So, 2025, what does Allan’s year look like?

Allan’s been showing very encouraging signs, His swing is as solid as it has ever been, he knows however the work needs to be done off the course with focus and mentality, and if he can couple a strong swing with the right mindset who knows where his game will take him.

He’s got to be favourite for the Dodhead before the season has even started, I also like him for the St Andrews Open, with those towering irons.

His ceiling is definitely a top-3 finish come the end of the season but I think 7th place is the move in the right direction he needs.
