Now we are into 2025, thoughts begin to turn to the start of the new season in April and whilst the EuroDov Cup, the season opening event and Major, is the first event of the calendar year, for many the St Andrews Open and the start of the Order of Merit is the signal the season is here.

The Order of Merit enters its 5th year in 2025 and has matured and settled into the premier event of the EuroDov Tour calendar. In 2025 16 players will compete to win the James Braid Quaich, the field boasts five Major winners and nine players who have at least one Order of Merit event win to their name and with four prize money spots and two relegation places at play every player needs to be on form to contend.

EuroDov Reporter has taken time to sit down and look at each individual player and assess their prospects ahead of 2025. So, sit back, and enjoy their reviews.

Next up is Joel Morrison.

Morrison makes his third appearance in the Order of Merit. He debuted in 2023 and recorded a respectable 8th place finish; his 2024 campaign was significantly curtailed making just four appearances and as such finished the season 14th.

Joel’s best outing on the Order of Merit has come at the 2023 Lochgelly Forrester Open where he posted a 4th place finish. However, is most consistent event has been the Tour Champs where he has posted a 5th and 6th place finish in two appearances.

His high placement in the Tour Champs definitely helps is points in the Order of Merit and as Tour observers know a good performance at Craigielaw can make or break a season.

Let’s take a look at the 2025 season and where Joel will likely place come August.

First things first, Joel will likely miss an event or two come early summer and that might not be a bad thing, his best finish at the Dodhead and the King’s Cup have been 11th and 15th respectively.

He kicks off 2025 playing the St Andrews Open, and event he hasn’t played yet, but he should be confident that he has all the tools to win around the Links. He could be entering Tour Champs with the pressure of relegation again, but he needs to look at past performances and take heart from that.

Joel has averaged an 8th place finish in all the events he’s played in since joining the Order of Merit, I think that is low balling him quite a bit and his game is in a radically different place. His ceiling for 2025 is definitely around 6th place overall, but given the risk of missing some events it is realistic to place him middle of the table 9th come the end of the season.
