Now we are into 2025, thoughts begin to turn to the start of the new season in April and whilst the EuroDov Cup, the season opening event and Major, is the first event of the calendar year, for many the St Andrews Open and the start of the Order of Merit is the signal the season is here.
The Order of Merit enters its 5th year in 2025 and has matured and settled into the premier event of the EuroDov Tour calendar. In 2025 16 players will compete to win the James Braid Quaich, the field boasts five Major winners and nine players who have at least one Order of Merit event win to their name and with four prize money spots and two relegation places at play every player needs to be on form to contend.
EuroDov Reporter has taken time to sit down and look at each individual player and assess their prospects ahead of 2025. So, sit back, and enjoy their reviews.
Next up is Kevin Brannan.
Brannan is one of the originals, playing the inaugural season in 2021. He saw out the 2024 season on the medical exemption list following a broken wrist, that saw him miss the Lochgelly-Forrester Open and the Tour Champs.
Brannan’s best finish in the Order of Merit is 5th, and his worst finish 7th, but that hides 10 top 5 finishes in 21 appearances, a highly impressive return.
In 2022 he won his first event, and only one so far, at the Tour Champs, which statistically is his best event on Tour.
Brannan has played in 3 events all 4 years he’s been on the Order of Merit, those are the Kinghorn Classic, MCM and Dodhead and he averages 7th, 6th and 7th place respectively.
His game is highly consistent, which allows him to roll from event to event with a relative degree of confidence, he played the EuroDov Cup earlier this year, so hopefully the cobwebs of 6 months off will be gone.
Looking ahead to his 2025 season Kevin’s ceiling is high. We aren’t buying the forced absence will have done any damage, he’s a good player with all the tools.
He will need to perform better at the season opener, posting 11th place finishes the last 2 years.
Kevin is always pushing for a top 5 place on the Order of Merit and there is no reason to suggest he can’t do that again in 2025.
However, je’s a notoriously slow starter, and with the 6 months off in 2024, he’ll be coming just a bit more rusty, expect him to post a good second half of the season as per usual and I see him safely finishing 10th in 2025.
