Following the completion of the 2022 EuroDov Cup the EuroDov Tour are today announcing that the competition will once again return to the continent.

First held in La Manga, Spain in 2018 the EuroDov Cup is the Tour’s only foreign event. The 54-hole competition is usually held in March of each year and is the first Major of the Tour’s annual calendar.

However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic the 2020 EuroDov Cup, was postponed and eventually cancelled.

In 2021 the Tour took the decision to host the event in the UK and the Cup was held at Salley Hall in Northumberland and at The Mere, Cheshire the following year.

Speaking to Tour secretary, David McColgan he said, “it was regrettable, but entirely right, that we postponed the 2022 EuroDov Cup. We’ve been following the covid-19 protocols and advice very closely to ensure that we can get tournaments operating safely and securely.

It has been great to host the 2021 and 2022 EuroDov Cup’s in the UK, not only for the sake of the competition but also the field, and now as travel and playing becomes safer again we are delighted to return to the continent in 2023.”

The Tour today announced that the EuroDov Cup will be hosted in the city of Cascais, Portugal. Many Tour followers will recognize the location as the host of the 2019 EuroDov Cup.

However, the 2023 EuroDov Cup will be the first event in its 4-year history to be held across 3 different courses. The EuroDov Cup will return to Quinta da Marinha – scene of Greig Baxter’s maiden Major victory – it well then visit the Championship course at Penha Longa before finishing at Estoril Golf Club.

Tour secretary, David McColgan said, “we are delighted to return to the continent, and returning to a familiar surrounding seemed like the best option. Cascais was home to the 2019 EuroDov Cup, and the field and Tour loved their time there.

We are changing it up a bit this time round and playing across 3 courses, all with differing challenges. We are very familiar with the challenge that Quinta da Marinha offers the field, with strategic par 5’s and challenging par 4’s and lightning-fast greens it is a great test for the Tour.

Penha Longa is a marquee destination and course, as the players have become accustomed to, and will really test the field.

And Estoril is a short, tight, and challenging course that should allow for an exciting sprint finish on the final day – hopefully to rival scenes from this year at The Mere.”

Well, there we have it folks, get the sunscreen and shorts looked out, we’re off to the sun in March 2023. The EuroDov Cup will be played between the 23rd and 26th march 2023.
